My name is Yueyang Lu. I was born and raised in China and earned my undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Economics from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. My academic journey sharpened my analytical skills, but it was through multiple research assistantships that I discovered how coding and mathematical modeling could uncover insights and anticipate real-world outcomes. This experience sparked my passion for data analytics and motivated me to pursue advanced studies in Management Information Systems at Texas A&M University.
During my research roles at HKUST and the University of Texas at Dallas, I explored housing markets, mortgages, and international trade wars. By combining statistical modeling with coding, I developed a deeper ability to transform data into meaningful narratives that support decision-making and policy analysis. My undergraduate honors thesis on income inequality across demographic groups further reinforced my belief in the power of data to address complex social and economic challenges.
Beyond research, I gained professional experience through a finance internship, where I streamlined auditing workflows and improved compliance processes. I also expanded my technical expertise by building a secure cloud-based database system for an e-commerce project, strengthening my skills in SQL, ELT and database design.
Guided by curiosity, innovation, and continuous learning, I aspire to contribute to data engineering and AI-related roles, bridging technology and business to deliver meaningful impact.
