Howdy! My name is Summer Conway Walker, and I am a senior at Texas A&M University in the Professional Program in Accounting (PPA). I will graduate in May 2026 with both my Bachelor's degree in Accounting and a Master's degree in Human Resources Management, completing the program in four years.

Outside of academics, the most important part of who I am is my faith. I am a believer in Christ, and that belief shapes my identity, values, and the way I approach my work, relationships, and leadership. Everything I do flows from that foundation.

When I entered college, I knew I wanted to be an Aggie, but beyond that, I was unsure of my major or career path. I had always enjoyed math and working with numbers, which led me to pursue accounting. That decision set me on a challenging yet rewarding path that I would not trade for anything. As I progressed through the PPA program, I discovered that while I value accounting, I was drawn more to understanding how businesses operate holistically, especially the people within them.

Growing up with a father who was a small business owner gave me a deep appreciation for entrepreneurs and the impact strong leadership can have on an organization. This interest was further reinforced through my coursework, particularly Managing People in Organizations, where I learned practical techniques for developing effective, motivated employees. Through these experiences, I realized that human resources plays a vital role not only in business, but in everyday life, whether in teams, communities, or personal relationships.

These realizations led me to pursue Human Resources as my PPA track, and I am excited about the opportunity to combine my accounting background with HR expertise. My goal is to develop people into strong, capable professionals who contribute to both their personal success and the long-term success of their organization.

Although my long-term passion lies in HR, I chose to pursue the opportunity to obtain my CPA license through PPA. I will begin testing for the CPA in the coming months and plan to gain accounting experience early in my career. I value fully embracing the opportunities placed before me, and I believe this experience will strengthen my perspective and effectiveness as a future HR professional. By building a strong foundation in accounting, I will be better equipped to serve organizations and their people at a higher level.
