Hi, my name is Nicole Kohers, and I'm a recent graduate from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor's in Human Resource Management, and I started my Master of Science in Human Resource Management this August at Mays Business School.
While at Texas A&M, I've developed my skills in organizational behavior. This has given me a better understanding of how to manage people and how to recruit effectively, which has given me a well-rounded view of the HR field and inspired me to explore the field further. My Managing Human Resources class helped reinforce my interest in areas like employee selection, compliance, compensation, and training/development.

While at my internship with Daikin Comfort, an international HVAC company, on their compensation team, I was able to apply what I had learned through my coursework. I gained hands-on experience with analytical tools, like Willis Towers Watson, Mercer, and Economic Research Institute (ERI), used to determine salary ranges and job leveling, and I created training content for multiple HR functions, like Talent Acquisition, Development, Compliance, and Benefits. One project I'm especially proud of was helping the team build an interactive HR organizational chart for the CEO of Daikin. It wasn't part of my assigned internship tasks, but I saw a chance to help and was able to apply my skills to improve the visibility of the HR job structure chart.

What excites me most about HR is the balance between structured and unstructured decisions. I like the fact that many decisions are supported by data and research, but also that there's room for strategic problem-solving when something unexpected occurs. I enjoy having the opportunity to get to know the entire company. From an HR perspective, I am also interested in compensation from the analytical side, compliance for its structure and policies, and recruiting for its impact on shaping the company's workforce.

I've demonstrated my commitment to HR not only through my internship and coursework but also through my involvement in leadership roles with Aggies for Limbs and my part-time job with the MBA Programs Office at Mays Business School, where I've supported recruiting efforts and practiced professional communication with students, staff, and faculty.

I enjoy working with others, I am always eager to help beyond my role, and I believe in being a resource for others, regardless of whether we're on the same team. As I plan my next steps, I'm excited to explore opportunities where I can continue building on my knowledge of the HR field, contribute to HR strategies, and make a positive impact on the organizations I'm a part of. Thank you!
