Howdy, my name is Barrett Johnson, and I am from Houston, TX. I obtained my BBA in Finance from Texas A&M this past May and am currently pursuing my Masters in Financial Management, also at A&M. I always knew that I would end up on the business side of life, and as I grew older, I learned that I excelled at numbers and the analytical side of business, so I decided to pursue my degree in finance. I have been able to apply what I have learned across my life towards my career, and am excited to pursue real-world decision making that can fuel smarter choices and personal long-term growth. Along the way, I have developed an interest in understanding how financial strategy impacts a business and its employees. Finance is more than just numbers on a page, it is how different actions made by employees can alter the outcomes of a business, and witnessing how they are able to create sustainable practices is fascinating to me.
What I believe sets me apart is my ability to take seemingly complex analytical data and organize it into understandable and actionable insights. I not only see myself as one who can crunch numbers well, but as someone who bridges the gap between both the strategic and technical sides of a business. This combination allows me to develop the why behind the numbers and apply it to real situations and complex problems that develop into outcomes.
My experience through my studies includes corporate finance and strategy, forecasting, and investment analysis. I have worked on preparing financial models that higher management would use for strategic decisions, evaluated large-scale acquisitions scenarios, and breaking down company performance drivers. I like to be as detail-oriented as possible, ensuring the data is correct and easy to understand and find. I have strong communication skills and try to be as transparent as possible. I am also highly inquisitive, always eager to gain new knowledge that I can share one day with those who choose a similar path to my own. My collaboration and adaptability make me effective in team-oriented work, alongside my ability to get things done independently.
